Mastermind Imran behind May 9 attacks, will be tried in military court, Rana Sana

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has announced that the case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan after his arrest on May 9 from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) premises. He will be tried in a military court.

The security czar said in an interview on Tuesday, “Imran Khan planned a program to target military installations and ensured its implementation, so, as per my understanding, this is a military court case. ,” reported JEE News.

He added that the ousted prime minister – who was removed from power by a no-confidence motion in April last year – was the “mastermind” of the attacks and had already planned them, and that The argument that he was in jail is not acceptable.

The minister said that all the planning was done before the arrest of Imran Khan and its real architect is Imran Khan. He further said that the government has evidence of Imran’s involvement. Angered by the arrest of the PTI chief, party workers and supporters vandalized government and military installations on May 9.

The government called in the army to quell the violence and announced that the protesters would be prosecuted under military law. A large number of PTI workers and leaders have been arrested in a nationwide crackdown.

On Tuesday, the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Faisalabad approved handing over to a military court four accused involved in the attack on defense installations during the May 9 riots.

A day earlier, the ATC in Rawalpindi approved the transfer of eight accused involved in the attack on the General Headquarters (GHQ) during the May 9 riots to military courts.

ATC judge Hamid Hussain approved the transfer of cases after Deputy Prosecutor General Malik Raffakat Ali filed a request to transfer the accused to military courts.

Similarly, 16 suspects, including a former PTI MPA, involved in vandalism and vandalism at Jinnah House in Lahore last week were handed over to the commanding officer.
