Microsoft announced Wednesday that it is launching “Designer,” a simple visual design app, for free and as part of its Office productivity suite subscriptions.
This program is an alternative to Canva, a creative tool with over 100 million monthly active users.
Of all the new ✨apps announce today at #MSIgnite I am excited for our team's Microsoft Designer, a graphic design app in Microsoft 365 that helps you create stunning social media posts, invitations, digital postcards, graphics, and more, all in a flash.https://t.co/QY8ZNX7XXr pic.twitter.com/tcQGxIRyuM

Canva, a Sydney-based firm with a post-money valuation of $40 billion as of last year, is one of the world’s most valuable companies.
Designer will be used to create social media posts, invitations, brochures, and other forms of design from scratch or using Microsoft’s templates.
It uses Open AI DALL-E 2 and Microsoft AI technologies, allowing users to design unique images from text or images.
The app is currently in the testing phase and will be launched to the general public soon. If you want to test the Designer app, sign up for early access to a free online preview.
Microsoft plans to make the app available as either a free or a premium app with more capabilities added to Microsoft 365 Personal and Family user subscriptions once it becomes more widely available.
