Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQMP) Deputy Convenor Kamran Tesori took oath as Governor of Sindh on Monday.
He is the 34th person to hold this position.
The Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court administered the oath to him in a ceremony held at Governor House Karachi.
The ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, Chief Secretary Sindh, leaders of MQMP, business community and civil society.
Tesori was appointed as the new governor on Sunday.
President Arif Alvi on Sunday approved his appointment under sub-clause of Article 101 of the Constitution.
The post fell vacant in April following the resignation of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Ismail.
The appointment of a new governor for Sindh had been stalled for a long time following Ismail’s resignation after the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) government raised objections to the nominees.
One of the nominees was former MQMP senator Nasreen Jalil, however, objections were raised over her history and questionable ties to foreign organizations and individuals.
