ISLAMABAD: A NAB panel on Thursday questioned former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf Chairman Imran Khan for four hours in connection with the £190 million National Crime Agency (NCA) UK settlement case. The panel issued a questionnaire, seeking responses through documentary evidence. Sources said the panel asked several questions related to the case, including money transfer, cabinet approval, land allotment to Al-Qadir Trust and records of donations. Furthermore, he questioned the confidentiality of the summary and its approval by the Cabinet without discussion. According to sources, the PTI chief told NAB that the entire process involving the National Crime Agency was under the supervision of Shahzad Akbar.

He said he had no direct involvement in the process, as he had received an oral briefing. The PTI chief said that Shahzad Akbar should be summoned from London for further investigation. Sources quoted him as saying that the property tycoon was inspired by the vision of Al-Qadir University Trust and donated the land for its establishment. Originally scheduled for June 7, NAB had initially summoned both Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi, but they requested a postponement. The NAB team rescheduled the summoning of the PTI chief on June 8, while Bushra Bibi received the summons on June 13.
