The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved an increase in electricity rates by Rs 0.09 per unit for the month of September as part of the Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA).
The increase will be applied to bills for the month of October.
Due to the increase in the price of electricity, there is a possibility of an additional burden of 1.1 billion rupees on the consumers.
The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CCPA) had asked the power regulatory authority to approve a 20 paise per unit increase in electricity rates.
On analysis of the data, Nepra said only Rs 0.09 per unit charge was justified.
Nepra has said that the hike will not be applicable to K Electric, Lifeline and electric vehicle charging stations.
