The Netflix film All Quiet on the Western Front notched up an impressive 150 million hours in streaming.
All Quiet on the Western Front has received a lot of love since its release on Netflix in October 2022.
As reported by JEE News, the film has crossed the 150 million-hour mark in viewership.
Eduard Berger tells the story of Paul Baumer, a young anti-war boy played by Felix Kammerer, who joins his friends in the Imperial German Army and listens to the authorities in his neighborhood. That going to war will make them heroes.
However, the horrifying realities of war come to the fore when the young men enter the battlefield.
In an interview with Collider, Berger explained how he wanted to visually express the film’s themes with physical objects, such as the scarf that appears throughout the story.
The director also praised the 1929 novel of the same name that served as an inspiration for the film, and how it was important to preserve the essence of the book.
All Quiet on the Western Front received 9 Academy Award nominations this year, including best in categories such as Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Original Score.
The film’s soundtrack was composed by Volker Bertelmann, a German pianist who composes music under the stage name. Bertrandman is best known for his work in award-nominated films.
It is not yet predicted how many awards All Quiet on the Western Front could take home when the 2023 Oscars are held on Sunday, March 12, 2023.
