Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi said on Sunday that the government has not taken any decision regarding the house arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan.

The caretaker chief minister’s comments came during a press conference in Lahore following reports that authorities were considering declaring Khan’s Zaman Park residence in Lahore a sub-jail and placing him under house arrest.
Among the thousands of activists arrested in connection with the May 9 violence, including women, the PTI claims that its female supporters have been mistreated in jails.
In an address, PTI chairman Khan asked the judiciary to intervene in the alleged mistreatment of his women workers behind bars, and demanded the Supreme Court to take suo motu notice of the matter.
But the Chief Minister rejected these claims.
“Women have been treated according to law. [PTI] is resorting to propaganda regarding ill-treatment of women in jails,” the chief minister said.
CM Naqvi said that 32 women were arrested and only 11 of them are still in jail. The top provincial official added that it was his government’s duty to ensure that “mothers and sisters remain safe”.
He said that the events on May 9 are unprecedented.
The Chief Minister further said that no matter how powerful the suspected attackers of Jinnah House are, the government will not show any restraint.
In response to a question, CM Naqvi said that PTI supporter Khadija Shah is in police custody and her identity will be paraded.
