Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar on Friday said the caretaker government would not support the forces of darkness as they took exception to the violent incidents in Faisalabad’s Jardanwala and May 9.

On August 16, hundreds of men vandalized churches and attacked the homes of the Christian community in Jaranwala tehsil, while in May Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activists resorted to severe violence when their chairman was arrested.

Kakar said during his first federal cabinet meeting, “Minorities will be protected in this country. There may be attempts to harm them by the marginalized and a section of the people, but it should be responded to strongly and strictly.” Will.”

The Interim Prime Minister said that “Pakistani state and society do not associate with such elements. They may belong to us but they are separate from us, they are separate from our identity process.

The Prime Minister noted that when one group is in the majority, they should ensure the protection of the minority. “But not on the basis that they should convert to your worldview […] their sustenance should be assured.”

The prime minister and his team are in power for a limited term, but they have more decision-making power than previous caretaker governments because of their longer tenure.

The polls, which will be delayed as the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) prepares new boundaries by mid-December, will extend the tenure of the Kakar-led administration by several months.

In his first major move after becoming prime minister, Kakar appointed a 24-member federal cabinet — 16 ministers, five special assistants to prime ministers, and three advisers.

Explaining his displeasure over the May 9 attacks, the prime minister said he was disappointed by the actions and noted that those involved in such incidents should be dealt with according to the law.

“These state symbols, when they are attacked, the state does not disappear or disappear in a week or two or a week. It is a process and the beginning of that process, or at least the attempt to do so, will be exhibited on May 9. was presented for.”

“We don’t just condemn it, we are now in a role to make sure that justice is done and anyone who breaks the rules these days will be dealt with under those rules. No favors. No, there will be no fear. We will try to implement with fairness and impartiality,” he added.

Earlier in his address, PM Kakar also said that the interim government will fulfill the national and international commitments of the previous governments, especially mentioning the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).
