Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar, Pakistan’s highest-paid author, claims that he is probably as popular in India as he is in Pakistan, and has been approached several times to take his magic across the border. . But all conversations are stuck on the same point of order.
Earlier this week, Qamar appeared on a podcast with popular comedian turned podcaster Nadir Ali that was released on his YouTube channel.
During the podcast, they discussed various aspects of life.
Ali hypothetically asked the Mere Paas Tum Ho author if he would ever consider working in the Indian media industry.
Qamar gave a surprising answer to this.
The author confirmed that he had made offers from the other side but they went nowhere.
“I have rejected all offers from India,” said Qamar in surprise.
“I am not a bragging person but I have turned down all the offers from India,” he said.
As for the reason for the breakdown of the conversation, Qamar had a rather unusual answer but one that makes sense on a more emotional level.
“Because they don’t give us the same respect and recognition that we give their people,” was the blunt reply from Pakistan’s most audacious outspoken man.
However, he had a soft spot for the Indian population at large, suggesting that they, like the Pakistanis, were perhaps victims.
“Indian audiences are not familiar with the Pakistani industry, and that’s because of their government, because they don’t allow our work to air,” he explained.
Nevertheless, there was some good news with Qamar that he would be working for the Indo-Punjabi film industry, as he has a very different kind of relationship with them. Otherwise, he expressed his desire to work in India unlike some Pakistani film and drama talent.
The London Nahin Jaeon Ga director added that there was only one condition for him to work in India and that is if Pakistani artistes get the respect and recognition they deserve there.
“The day that happens, I will not only go there but also write a film for them for free.”
He further said that ‘I am already very famous, I don’t need the fame of India, the honor of the country (Pakistan) is my priority.
