KARACHI: In view of Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches to be held in Karachi, a comprehensive security plan has been prepared by the police to protect the players and officials participating in the mega event.
The spectacular display of cricket will continue in the metropolis till February 26, during which 9 matches will be played at the National Bank Cricket Arena.
Briefing the media on Monday, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Dr Maqsood Ahmed, head of the security division of the police department, said that the foolproof security plan has been finalized ahead of the PSL matches, in which 7,500 security personnel will be deployed in the city. Police personnel will be deployed.
About 2,600 personnel of the Security Division, including 1,000 men and women commandos of the Special Security Unit (SSU), 1,800 traffic police personnel, 600 personnel of the Special Branch and other district police personnel, will perform their duties. Law enforcement agencies at a critical juncture.
The points include the National Stadium, Karachi Airport, routes, hotels and other places while sharpshooters have also been deployed at sensitive locations.
A Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team consisting of highly trained and well-equipped commandos will be on alert at the SSU headquarters and will patrol the perimeter of the stadium as a quick response force to deal with any eventuality. .
An SSU special command and control bus will also be stationed at the stadium to monitor law and order around the stadium.
DIG Ahmed said that CNG-equipped vehicles and all types of drones are strictly prohibited in the stadium premises and the roads except one track of Sir Shah Sulaiman Road remain open for passengers during the match hours. will
Spectators will be guided and assisted by SSU commandos in tracksuits from parking points to enclosures.
Moreover, fans are advised to reach the stadium early to avoid waiting in long queues. All gates of the stadium will open three hours before the start of the match.
No firearms, toy guns, explosives, firecrackers, cigarettes, matches, lighters, or any sharp objects such as knives and metal wooden clubs will be allowed in the stadium.
Discrimination or obscene comments based on race, religion or ethnicity on any banner, poster or placard is strictly prohibited. Spectators are not allowed to throw anything on the ground or at fellow spectators.
