Operation in Rahim Yar Khan Katcha area, Dacoit killed, six arrested

Rahim Yar Khan/Sukkur/Lahore: Punjab Police under the leadership of Inspector General Dr. Usman Anwar started an operation against the criminal gangs in the Katcha area. In which Sindh Police also participated.

2,000 soldiers have been sent from Punjab for the operation, while 11,000 police personnel are also participating in it.

IG Punjab Usman Anwar himself reached the area of Rahim Yar Khan and personally supervised the operation. He said that he is leading the campaign launched on the orders of the National Security Committee.

On the first day of the operation, the police teams arrested the robbers and destroyed their hideouts.

The accused attacked the convoy of IG Punjab and injured the head constable of RPO Bahawalpur. He was shifted to Lahore for treatment.

In the exchange of fire, one robber was killed while 6 were arrested. IGP Usman Anwar, RPO Bahawalpur Rai Saeed Babar and DPO Rizwan Umar Gondal told media persons at the DPO office that all the political and military leadership are on the same page regarding the operation. The IGP said that even after the completion of the operation, the police will remain in the areas to ensure the rule of law.

He said that the police posts in the area have been fully restored while efforts are being made to evacuate the interior areas. He said that earlier the operation was going on based on intelligence whereas today the operation was started to clear the interior areas.

Apart from this, the IGP declared the recovery of two children in Khanpur as a manifestation of the professionalism of the police and announced a cash reward of Rs 12 lakh and certificates of appreciation to the DPO and his team.

First the Sindh Police started the operation and later the Punjab Police also joined it.

According to Bhong ASP Shahzeb Chachar, these areas will be cleared of criminal elements, organized gangs and hardened criminals forever. He said that 600 policemen have been deployed and 12 camps have been set up in Machko area. “This is an intelligence-led operation launched against seven criminal gangs from Sindh when they entered the Kutch area of Punjab,” he added.

IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon will reach Sukkur today to review the operation against dacoits in Sukkur and Larkana region.

Meanwhile, Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi called Inspector General of Police Usman Anwar. Naqvi visited the police personnel injured in the firing of criminals in the police operation in Katcha area.

Naqvi said that the joint operation of Punjab and Sindh police is ongoing and successful to clean the Katcha area from criminal elements, adding that the operation will continue until the last criminal is eliminated.

He appreciated the police officers and jawans who participated in the operation.
