In the first One-Day International (ODI) against New Zealand in Karachi on Monday, Pakistan struck in the first over as Naseem Shah gave the home side an early breakthrough.

Dion Conway, who has excelled in the Test series, was bowled by Naseem Shah on the last ball of the first over, the left-hander’s first ball.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam won the toss and decided to field first. Pakistan won both their series chase matches against Australia in 2022.

Earlier, leg-spinner Osama Mir was presented the debut cap by head coach and former off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq.

Usama Mir’s first international wicket was a big one, as he bowled New Zealand captain Kane Williamson for 26 in his third over.

Mohammad Wasim Jr got the second wicket when he struck in his first over and dismissed Finn Allen for 29 runs.
