LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has accepted the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) amendments to the World Cup 2023 schedule, sources told JEE News on Tuesday.
The international organization contacted Pakistan and said that there is a need to change the schedule. In response to this, the board agreed to the proposal, according to sources.
As per the new schedule, the match venues will not be changed, only the dates have been changed. ICC will announce the updated schedule soon.

- October 6 – vs Holland in Hyderabad
- October 10 – Against Sri Lanka in Hyderabad
- October 14 – India Vs at Ahmedabad
- October 20 – vs Australia at Bengaluru
- October 23 – Afghanistan vs. Chennai
- October 27 – vs South Africa at Chennai
- October 31 – Bangladesh vs Kolkata
- November 4 – New Zealand vs Bengaluru (Match of the Day)
- November 12 – vs England in Kolkata
Indian media had reported that security agencies had advised the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to make travel arrangements in light of Navratri, a festival celebrated with mass participation across Gujarat. Make the change which will happen on October 15 when the most important Pakistan vs India match was to be played.
Ten teams will battle it out for the coveted title at 10 venues from October 5 to November 19, with the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad hosting the tournament’s opening match and the final.
The day matches will start at 10:00 AM PST while all other matches will be day and night matches starting at 01:30 PM (PST).
If Pakistan qualify for the semi-finals, they will play in Kolkata.
If India qualify for the semi-finals, they will play in Mumbai unless they play against Pakistan, in which case they will play in Kolkata.
The Cricket World Cup will be played in a round-robin format in which all teams will play a total of 45 league matches against each other.
The top four teams will qualify for the semi-finals, which will be held in Mumbai on November 15 and Kolkata on November 16. The semi-finals and finals will have reserve days.
Meanwhile, the panel constituted by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to decide on Pakistan’s participation in the World Cup in India will meet for the first time on Thursday.
Sources said that PCB Management Committee Chairman Zaka Ashraf will also participate in the meeting presided over by Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
The huddle will discuss Pakistan’s participation in the World Cup in India. Members will also explore Ahmedabad as the venue for the high-octane Pakistan vs India match.
The high-powered panel will send its recommendations to the Prime Minister who will take the final decision on the country’s participation in the mega event.
