Legendary former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi on Friday suggested that the Green Shirts should play against India in Ahmedabad during the upcoming ICC World Cup, saying: “Pakistan’s win in front of a huge Indian crowd is more than pleasing. What will happen.”
Speaking to a local news channel, the former all-rounder said that Pakistan should go to Ahmedabad and play against India.
“Why are they refusing to play on Ahmedabad pitches? Does it fuel the fire or is it a victim?” Afridi inquired.
“Go and play – go, play and win. If these are the challenges ahead, then the only way to overcome them is a comprehensive victory. At the end of the day, what matters is the victory of the Pakistan team. Only that.” Take it positively, if they [India] feel comfortable there, you should go, win in front of a packed Indian crowd and show them what you got”.
According to reports, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had reservations about playing the World Cup match against India at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
But, according to a report by ESPNcricinfo, the Pakistan vs India match will be held in Ahmedabad. According to the report, Pakistan will play its World Cup matches at five venues including Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru and Kolkata.
The World Cup will begin with defending champions England taking on ICC World Cup 2019 finalists New Zealand on October 5.
