ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Thursday that Pakistan is keen to improve its bilateral ties with the US in various fields, noting that relations between the nations are returning to “normalcy”.

According to JEE News, while addressing the ceremony held on the occasion of the 247th Independence Day of the United States, he said that Pakistan and the United States have put aside any misgivings and misunderstandings and made serious efforts to improve their relations. .

He pledged to build a better and stronger relationship with the US as the head of government and as a Pakistani based on mutual trust and respect.

He said that in the last 75 years our relationship has had ups and downs but overall we have been very good friends.

He said that the US is Pakistan’s biggest trade partner and steadfast partner in the war against terrorism.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that in the war against terrorism, Pakistan lost 80,000 people from all walks of life. He remarked that this unprecedented sacrifice defined Pakistan’s resolve and America has been a major supporter and partner in this war.

He said that about five years ago when Pakistan was facing severe power outage, the government installed 5000 MW power plants based on LNG and all the equipment was brought from America.

He said that the two countries have a huge scope to cover and expand their relations in various fields including agriculture and information technology.

He added that Pakistan has tremendous talent and emerging youth which was a challenge but could be turned into an opportunity with the support and cooperation of the US.

The Prime Minister praised the US for its help during last year’s devastating floods.

“We appreciate the support of the United States, which has been the largest donor and very helpful in providing relief to millions of people affected by the floods,” he added.

Prime Minister Shehbaz congratulated President Joe Biden and the people and government of America on their 247th Independence Day.

He said that he was looking forward to the visits of high-powered American delegations to further enhance cooperation.

American Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Bloom said in his remarks that America’s economic partnership with Pakistan is increasing.

The US has been a leading investor in Pakistan and Pakistan’s largest export market, he said during a ministerial meeting, adding that both countries had made significant progress in increasing market access for goods and services. Is.
