MELBOURNE: Team mentor Matthew Hayden believes that T20 World Cup 2022 is an opportunity for the Pakistan cricket team to re-enlighten and revive the nation with their performances.
Speaking to the media at MCG after the practice session, the former Australian cricketer said that the T20 World Cup final between Pakistan and England on Sunday will be a contest between quality bowling and quality batting.
“It’s a very emotional campaign,” he said of Pakistan.
“When it comes to these big tournaments, we know what it means. It means a chance to lift the World Cup [trophy], it means a chance to brighten and re-energize nations, re-energise a nation through the performance of its national team,” he said.
Hayden also highlighted team bonding and how players treat each other on and off the field.
“It’s a beautiful metaphor for a team with raw talent at its heart, mixed with the passion of a nation that loves the game,” he said.
“The highs for Pakistan in this tournament have been really solid. I think there have been some really important performances. For me, the other day, he was off the field when Babar was throwing warm-up balls to Rizwan. To me, that reflects a culture that is working, with that hope and building that commonality. I think it’s a beautiful moment,” he said.
Pep Talk by Rameez Raja
Speaking about Ramez Raja’s pep talk to the players in the net sessions ahead of the ICCT20 World Cup 2022 final, Matthew Hayden said that Ramez was reliving some memories of the 1992 World Cup.
He added that many current players will get similar opportunities in their lifetime.
“This will be an important chapter for Pakistan cricket as the ’92 campaign marks the emergence of another superpower. And, one of the most influential cricketers of all time, Imran Khan, is doing great. Celebrating democracy. An important part of life, and he’s doing it like a champ,” said the Man in the Green mentor.
‘Ready to Play’
Hayden said there has been a lot of positive energy mixed with some criticism that he believes the international team deserves.
“I think you can’t come into a tournament like this and expect it to go your way. Our last campaign in the T20 World Cup was very smooth. We won every game convincingly, as We looked at our semi-final performance, but that doesn’t mean anything until you hit the big game. So, here we are in the big game. We’ve faced criticism, we’ve had both successes and failures. “Had fun. And, I think we’re ready to play,” he said.
On the Star Duo Babar-Rizwan
He also praised Pakistan’s opening pair of Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam and highlighted that their performance not only reflects their on-field relationship but also speaks volumes about their off-field chemistry. .
“Both are very good leaders. Both men are proud of their nationalism, and also their commitment to Islam, they have each other’s backs, two are always better than one and hence recognized a great partnership.” So you will see every player standing with a contribution of 50 or 100 runs because it matters.
“It’s important factors for Razi and Babar. And it’s also generational and cricket. You know, who can forget that? Hey, it’s not great, it’s a partnership, you know, what I was. , and Justin, we’ve always been chasing that partnership. Never got there. But it is, it was important in our heads,” he said.
Pak vs England: Standard bowling vs Standard batting
Talking about Sunday’s ICCT Twenty20 World Cup final between Pakistan and England, the former Australian cricketer said it will be quality fast bowling versus quality batting.
“We’ve got four pacers who can really make an impact and do some lasting damage inside 20 overs. One of the things I think India really lacked in the spin bowling department last night. It felt like, you know, a leg-spinning option, a sixth bowling option. That Pakistan has six real options that’s also a seventh, you know, is there a need for an afti. So, I think the bases are covered. I think when you look at England’s set-up as well, both sides have actually got a very equal set-up. They have six bowling options genuinely and also easy options to have batting all-rounders. ,” They said.
In response to a question, Matthew Hayden said that teams do their due diligence before every match so it doesn’t matter if the two teams have played recently and that’s why you always hear this cliché in sports. That this is an important day.
“And it’s 100%, right?” He advised.
