Pakistan will default if it does not join IMF program, Imran Khan

Criticism of the economic policies of the coalition government. Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has warned that the country will default if it does not do a program with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

It is worth mentioning here that Imran Khan had been a strong critic of approaching the IMF and other countries for loans before coming to power in 2018. In November 2015, he said: “I would prefer death to the begging bowl!”

Addressing PTI activists and supporters via video link on Sunday, Khan said: “We have no other option but to enter the IMF programme.” Former Special Assistant to Prime Minister for Poverty Alleviation Dr. Sania Nishtar was also present with him.

Criticizing the economic policies of the Muslim League-N-led government, the ousted prime minister said that over 0.75 million Pakistanis had left the county during the past seven months. “Industries are shutting down due to the ongoing economic crisis.”

He warned that inflation will increase further in the coming days.

The PTI chief also urged the people not to leave the country in difficult times, adding that nations fight together in difficult times.

“My life is in danger but I will stay in the country and face [the challenges],” he said, vowing to fight unitedly against the “thieves” who have invaded the country.

Wishing the entire nation a Happy New Year, the former Prime Minister asked the people to face the coming difficulties.

“Standing up is the only way out of disaster,” Khan told the nation.

Criticizing the coalition government over alleged dual laws – one for the poor and one for the rich, the former prime minister said his party wanted rule of law in the county.

He said that the recent floods exposed the governance system of the country. On this occasion, he also highlighted the achievements of his previous government.

Earlier, speaking about the current political crisis in the county, the former chief minister reiterated that the PTI would not return to the National Assembly. It would be a fruitless exercise, he added.

Criticizing the establishment once again, Khan said that his three legislators were asked to remain neutral during the trust vote in the Punjab Assembly.

“MQM factions are uniting and Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) leaders are joining PPP (to take on PTI in the next election),” Khan added. said

Emphasizing the need for free and fair elections, PTI Chairman said that transparent elections will bring stability to the country. He also criticized the “audio leaks game” in the country.
