Pakistan’s tea imports rose 2.21% to $192 million during 4MFY23.

ISLAMABAD: Imports of tea have seen an increase of 2.21% during the first four months of the current financial year as compared to the same month last year.

According to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) data, tea imports during July-October (2022-23) were recorded at $192.474 million compared to $188.304 million during July-October (2021-22). There were imports.

In terms of volume, however, tea imports declined by 8.90 percent during the period under review as it declined from 84,590 metric tons last year to 77,065 metric tons during the same months of the current fiscal year, data showed. Shamar revealed.

On a year-on-year (YoY) basis, tea imports increased by 54.09% in October 2022 as compared to imports in the same month last year. During October 2022, the country imported tea worth $57.272 million compared to exports of $37.169 million last August.

On a month-on-month (MoM) basis, tea imports, however, increased by 32.30% compared to imports of $43.290 million in September 2022.

In terms of quantity, tea imports into the country during October 2022 were recorded at 22,829 MT which is 31.50% 25024% higher than the imports of 17,360 MT in September 2022 and 16,121 MT in October 2021. More than October 2021.

During the first four months of the current financial year, the country’s total food imports increased by 9.71 percent and recorded $3,431.022 million as against $3,127.240 million in July-October (2021-22).

It may be mentioned here that during the first four months of the current financial year, the country’s gross merchandise imports decreased by 16.21 percent from $25,084 million in the previous year to $25,084 million in July-October (2022-23). Duran remained at 21,018 million dollars.

Exports during the period increased by 0.94 percent to $9,549 million as against $9,460 million during the same period last year.

According to the data, the trade deficit this year was recorded at $11,469 million, which shows a decrease of 26.59% compared to last year’s deficit of $15,624 million.
