Before Pathaan’s release, social media was abuzz with boycott trends against the film for its offensive content; Director Siddharth Anand has finally reacted to the issue.
The director says that although it was quite disturbing, he is happy that people realized after the release of Pathaan that these trends were baseless.
“Honestly, it was upsetting because we know there’s no basis for it. We know when you make a topic that’s a bit controversial and it’s considered, you get upset and you hope. People will see the right thing. But here, there is nothing offensive. We were just hoping that let’s release the film so that the boycotters will come and see that there is no merit in what they are saying. That’s what happened.”
According to JEE News, Anand said: “The audience came in large numbers and saw it. They felt the calls (of boycott) were baseless. I think it was a silent protest from the audience the way they came on the opening day.
Pathaan starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham has broken almost all records at the box office. The film is still running successfully all over the world.
