After former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi’s shocking revelation about fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi’s knee rehabilitation program in London, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has finally responded to the claims.

Sources say the PCB has admitted that Shaheen paid for the ticket from Dubai to London, maintaining that there is now an agreement between the young cricketer and the board that he will pay for the knee injury. Travel and medical expenses will be paid later.

They said that Shaheen paid for the ticket as he himself had booked it online as the relevant logistical arrangements could not be made due to time constraints. Sources further said that after reaching London, Shaheen shifted to a hotel after staying with Dr. Zafar for a few days.

PCB has reportedly assured Shaheen to pay for his medical treatment and other expenses including rehabilitation, travel and hotel stay.

Cricket’s governing body had earlier said in a statement, without directly addressing Shahid, that it has always been and will continue to be responsible for the medical care and rehabilitation of all players.

“It goes without saying that the PCB has always been and will continue to be responsible for the medical care and rehabilitation arrangements of all its players.

It said that the doctors in its advisory panel for Fakhar include Dr Zafar and Dr Imtiaz, who also treated Shaheen.
