ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja is likely to be replaced, JEE News reported on Saturday citing sources.
According to sources, former PCB chairman Najam Sethi is a strong candidate for this post.
Sethi reportedly met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Lahore and the Prime Minister is said to have hinted at making Sethi the new PCB chairman.
Sources say that the secretary of the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) has sent the summary of the change of chairman to the Prime Minister House.
News of Raja’s change as PCB chairman has been doing the rounds a few times in the past, but he has rejected these claims saying that he is not going anywhere.
Former Pakistan captain and 1992 World Cup winner Raja was unanimously elected unopposed as the 36th chairman of the PCB for a three-year term in September last year.
Najam Sethi resigned as PCB chairman in 2018 when Imran Khan was sworn in as the prime minister. Sethi was appointed for a three-year term in 2017, but his sour relationship with Khan soon led to his departure.
Najam Sethi has also served as PCB Chairman in 2013 and 2014.
