Lahore: The meeting of the ruling coalition will be chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif today, in which the current political crisis in the country and the cases pending in the Supreme Court will be considered.

According to JEE News sources, the meeting will be held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Model Town, in which the leaders of the coalition parties will decide the strategy to deal with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and legal challenges.

The Supreme Court is hearing a case related to the delay in the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly elections, amid controversy over the automatic notices taken in this regard.

The PTI had challenged the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) order on March 22 postponing the elections in both provinces. The five-judge bench originally constituted to hear the petition was dissolved twice after two judges recused themselves from the case following the Supreme Court’s order to stay all proceedings under Article 184(3). .

However, after the dismissal of the two judges, a three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial and comprising of Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan and Justice Muneeb Akhtar is now hearing the petition of PTI.

The court also rejected the government’s request for a full court on Friday, deepening the ongoing crisis as former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has rejected the bench.

According to JEE News, the ruling coalition is anxiously awaiting the results of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) report, which initially revealed some shocking information about people hiding in Imran Khan’s Zaman Park residence. Information is collected.

Sources said the ruling coalition would not support talks with the PTI or Imran as “they are not trustworthy people”.

It has been pointed out that Imran is contacting the leaders of the ruling alliance through back channel for talks. The alliance leadership will also discuss Imran’s impatience for talks and his objectives in their meeting today.

Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazir Tarar will brief the meeting about the overall situation of the legal battle being fought in the Supreme Court on the elections of Punjab and KP Provincial Assemblies and the controversial self-notification.

Before the Prime Minister’s departure to Lahore, Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan had an important meeting with the Prime Minister in Islamabad. He has also left for Lahore and will be available for consultation during the meeting.

Sources said the government will consider the option of boycotting the proceedings of the three-judge bench of the Supreme Court, which has been reduced from nine to three after the resignation of the bench.

The ruling coalition leaders will also consider a proposal to knock on the Supreme Judicial Council’s door on certain issues.

In the meeting, a political strategy will be prepared to deal with the upcoming agitation by PTI and Imran.

Sources have indicated that Pakistan Muslim League (N) leader Nawaz Sharif will also join the discussion from London.
