At least one person was killed and 20 injured in an explosion in the main market of Balochistan’s Kohlu district on Friday, a health official confirmed.
According to Source, Medical Superintendent of Kohlu District Headquarters Hospital, more than 21 patients were brought to the hospital.
“One person has died while 10 patients are in critical condition. We have referred them to Dera Ghazi Khan,” he told dawn.com.
Murree added that the rest of the patients are undergoing treatment at DHQ Hospital in Kohlu.
Balochistan Education Minister Mir Naseebullah Marri told Dawn.com that a medical emergency has been declared in the hospital and timely assistance is being provided to the injured.
He further said that if the condition of the injured worsens, they will be shifted to Multan for medical assistance.
Meanwhile, police and other law enforcement agencies have cordoned off the area, but details about the nature of the blast are yet to be confirmed.
Adviser to the Chief Minister on Interior Mir Zia Longo has strongly condemned the blast in a statement and has sought a report from the Deputy Commissioner of Kohlu.
He said that the terrorists will not be allowed to succeed in their “nefarious aims”.
Longo issued instructions to provide “best possible treatment” to the injured. The adviser also expressed his condolences to the relatives of the deceased and the injured.
