Before the talks with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) regarding the elections, the meeting of the coalition ruling parties started on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

On Tuesday, the prime minister had called a meeting of the coalition parties today, as the deadline for talks with the PTI on the Supreme Court’s order is nearing. The Supreme Court was to hear the petition for holding the general elections of the National and Provincial Assemblies together.

Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) convener and other leaders of the ruling coalition were present in the meeting. attended.

Sources say that the current political situation was discussed in the meeting. Later, a legal team will brief the meeting on the Supreme Court’s deadline for disbursement of election funds to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

It should be noted that the government has only two days left to talk to the PTI to reach a consensus on the issue of holding elections as per the orders of the Supreme Court.

During the previous meeting of the allies, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had suggested talks to PTI, but PDM chief Fazlur Rehman rejected it outright.
