Policeman was killed by firing of son of former deputy commissioner in Defense area of Karachi

KARACHI: In a tragic incident, a policeman was shot dead by a car driver, allegedly the son of a former deputy commissioner, after an altercation between the two at Defense Housing Authority (DHA) Phase V late on Monday night. .

According to JEE News, the martyred police officer, Abdul Rahman, and his colleague chased down the suspected shooter, identified as Khurram Nisar, and spoke to him after allegedly seeing suspicious activity.

Footage of the shooting was captured by CCTV cameras showing Rehman and Nisar getting out of the passenger seat and driver’s seat respectively of a black windowed vehicle.

In the same video, the policeman can be seen holding a pistol and directing Nisar to sit in the car and go to the police station.

According to the police, Nisar came to Karachi from Sweden on November 5. He lives there with his wife and two children.

DIG South Irfan Baloch told JEE News that the policeman accompanying Rehman recorded his statement, according to which he saw Nisar forcing a woman into a car near the boat basin.

Baloch said that when policemen approached Nisar, the woman ran away, when they tried to control her, but she was unable to grab her gun when she resisted.

This happened when Rehman sat in the car with Nisar, while another policeman followed him.

The DIG said that the policemen tried to take Nisar to Derakhshan police station but he increased the speed of his vehicle. On this, Rehman tried to stop Nisar and both got out of the car. He added that the two got into an argument and pointed their guns at each other.

According to Baloch, Nisar’s house in Karachi is near the crime scene in DHA Phase 5, where he left the car used in the incident at home and escaped in another car.

Police raided Nisar’s house and seized weapons, documents and vehicle used during the shooting. The watchman of the house was also detained.

Police said that a copy of Nisar’s passport has also been seized and the search is on for the vehicle in which he fled, the houses of his friends are also being searched, while Nisar’s photographs and travel documents have been seized. Details of the documents have been provided. The statement of the policeman who accompanied Rehman to the airport is also being investigated.

Preliminary reports
Earlier in a conversation with journalists, SSP South Asad Raza revealed the identity of the accused. He said his accomplice has been taken into custody, while the weapon and car used in the incident have been recovered.

SSP Raza said that the suspect opened fire on the policeman injuring him seriously when the policemen tried to take the former to the police station.

He said that the accused tried to stop a car and his aim was to kidnap a woman. According to the initial statement of the police, there was a woman inside the accused’s car. But the woman allegedly sitting inside the suspect car is yet to be identified.

SSP said that the accused fired two to three shots from inside his car and fled.

He further said that Chaudhry Nisar traveled to Karachi from Sweden on November 5. He further said that airport and highways authorities have been informed about the matter to prevent any escape attempt by the accused.

The SSP requested people to inform the police if they have any information about the suspect.

Moreover, they said that Rehman also fired at the accused in retaliation.

The post-mortem report revealed that Rahman was hit by a bullet in the head, which led to his death. Police say that the bullet was fired from a 9mm pistol at close range.

Parents rejected Nisar.
In their statement during the investigation, according to the police, Nisar’s parents have “denied” it and claimed that they have no knowledge about the whereabouts of the accused.

“Khurram comes to Pakistan once a year. We have no idea what he does when he comes to Pakistan. We cannot take any responsibility for his actions,” the parents told investigators. told investigators.
