ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Saturday said that the People’s Party is a party that has always challenged the dictatorship, including the last government of Pervez Musharraf, but no political party in Pakistan like the PTI on May 9.
He said this during an interview during his recent visit to Iraq.
Regarding PTI chief Imran Khan’s allegations, Bilawal said that he is responsible for his downfall and history will prove it.
The foreign minister said that the country faced dictatorship in the past and the PTI chief always supported the dictatorship. It was a documented and proven fact that they were brought to power through rigged elections.
Bilawal said that the announcement by the top officials that the army will not enter politics and will remain apolitical has definitely worried PTI supporters.
He added that people were angry over the events of May 9 when PTI supporters attacked GHQ and Corps Commander House. He said that the elements involved in these incidents will face legal consequences.
In response to a question, Bilawal Bhutto said that we do not think that change can come overnight, adding that change can bring democratic forces in the society. He said that change should be through a civil and political process that includes parliament. Imran Khan paid very little attention to Parliament.
“The fate of the country can be decided not on the streets but by Parliament,” he said, stressing the need for civilian and political leadership to strengthen the democratic character to squeeze space for others.
The foreign minister said that he has no regrets about returning to Pakistan to realize his mother’s vision. Pakistan is moving towards democracy.
He reiterated that the Pakistani government is committed to expanding ties with Russia despite deep meaningful ties. He said that he wants to maintain neutrality on the Ukraine conflict.
He said that last year the floods that destroyed large parts of Pakistan were important not only for the country but also for the whole world.
Despite the many economic and political challenges facing the country, ranging from climate change to the Russia-Ukraine conflict and domestic issues, the foreign minister said he was confident that the people of the country would overcome these trials and have a better future. will come together to build
To a question, he said that after the fall of Kabul, the international community had many expectations from the new rulers. “Pakistan’s stand is in line with the stand of the international community,” he said, adding that the international community wants Taliban rulers to provide rights and education to women and not use Afghan soil for terrorist activities. .
Bilawal Bhutto termed the restoration of diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran as a positive development. He said that this is a positive news not only for the two countries but also for the entire region and for us.
The foreign minister vehemently denied the allegations against China’s investment in Pakistan and said that it unfortunately reflected a “biased attitude”. He said that all weather strategic cooperation between Pakistan and China is based on economic prosperity.
He added that Pakistan is the flagship of the “One Belt One Road” initiative with China through the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) under which China is completing various energy and road infrastructure projects.
About the visit to Iraq, he said that it will further increase the bilateral and economic cooperation between the two brotherly countries. They wanted to strengthen security and defense cooperation and share their lessons learned from terrorism. He further said that both countries agreed to relax visas for tourism to promote cultural and religious relations.
