ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Monday submitted applications for allotment of election symbols of ‘Arrow’ and ‘Sword’ respectively ahead of general elections.
PPPP Secretary General Farhatullah Babar wrote to the Chief Election Commissioner for the allotment of election symbol while PPP Secretary General Nayar Hussain Bukhari requested the Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan through a separate letter to allot the sword symbol. . In a letter to the CEC, Babar referred to the Election Commission’s July 2 public announcement calling for applications for allotment of election symbols ahead of the general elections.
Accordingly, he requested the CEC to allot ‘arrow’ as a symbol under Section 216 of the Election Act, 2017. The letter said that the PPP was allotted an ‘arrow’ during the last general elections held since 2002.
In a separate letter written to the CEC, Bukhari, on behalf of Chairman People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, submitted an application to the Election Commission for the allotment of the election symbol Talwar.
