President failed to fix polling date in consultation with ECP: KP Governor

PESHAWAR: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday admitted that he tried to fix the date of elections in the province along with the President and the Election Commission but could not succeed.

Haji Ghulam Ali said that he will try till the end for peaceful and fair elections.

Talking to the media on Saturday, he said that no action should be taken against the President for violating the Constitution.

He said that the political and economic situation of the country cannot afford it.

The governor said that after the decision of the Supreme Court, he wants to consult with the President and the Election Commission regarding the provincial assembly elections. But, he admitted, he could not succeed.

He said that he had not received any legal notice not to fix the date of the elections, adding that he would go to the Election Commission on March 14 for consultation. He said everyone was worried about the election, but they had to fix a date and also ensure that the exercise was peaceful.
