Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reached Jacobabad on Monday, where he reviewed the ongoing relief and rehabilitation activities in the city and other areas of Balochistan.
The Prime Minister also took an aerial view of the flood-affected areas adjacent to the border of Sindh and Balochistan.
According to official wire service APP, Prime Minister Shehbaz will also visit Sahabpur and Khuzdar to supervise the flood relief activities.
The Prime Minister will be briefed on the measures taken for the relief and rehabilitation of the victims.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will also visit Balochistan National Party (Mengal) chief Nawab Akhtar Jan Mengal’s residence in Khuzdar district and condole the death of his uncle.
According to the National Disaster Management Authority, floods have displaced more than 33 million people and killed nearly 1,700 people in Pakistan this year.
In many areas of Sindh, stagnant water has given birth to diseases like malaria and dengue. The United Nations has sounded the alarm over an impending “second disaster” of illness and death in the province.
In its latest situation report, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) said that water shortages were particularly observed in Sindh and Balochistan during the past week.
The report further said that in Sindh, water is decreasing in the districts of Kashmore, Kundhkot, Larkana, Ghotki, Sukkur, Tando Aliyar, Shaheed Benazirabad, Tando Mohammad Khan, Umarkot and Sanghar.
Based on the observation of the United Nations Satellite Center, the flood water in Balochistan has decreased by about 300 square kilometers, Punjab by 900 square kilometers and Sindh by 4000 square kilometers.
