Quetta Gladiators’ Jason Roy scored a blistering century on Wednesday to beat Peshawar Zalmi by eight wickets at the Pindi Cricket Stadium. Quetta Gladiators’ Jason Roy scored a blistering century on Wednesday to lead his side to an eight-wicket victory over Peshawar Zalmi at the Pindi Cricket Stadium as the Gladiators successfully chased down a record 241-run target.

Roy created history when chasing an incredible run for the Gladiators. His brilliant innings of 145 helped the Gladiators to 241 in 18.2 overs.

Roy drew a standing ovation as he dazzled with the bat during the most successful run chase in PSL history. He hit 20 boundaries and five maximums to become the highest individual score in the PSL. The previous highest was 127 runs scored by Colin Ingram in 2019.

Ready to chase down a mammoth total of 241, Roy along with his opening partner Martin Guptill gave Babar Azam-led Zalmi a flying start. Guptill was caught and bowled by Wahab Riaz.

However, Roy combined with Will Smead to score 109 off just 55 balls. Samid scored 26 runs off 22 balls. Mohammad Hafeez also formed a strong partnership with Roy as the duo put on 93 runs off 39 balls. The Pakistan veteran remained unbeaten with six fours and two maximums of 41 runs.

Only Wahab and Mujibur Rahman could take one wicket each from Zalmi’s side.

Earlier, Babar responded to his detractors with the bat by scoring his maiden century in the PSL at a strike rate of 171.66.

In the 25th match of the ongoing PSL 8, Babar combined with Saeem Ayub to create a brilliant opening as Zalmi scored 240-2 against the Gladiators. The two batsmen put on 162 runs off 81 balls to form the second highest partnership in the history of the tournament.

Sime continued his top form and scored 74 off just 34 balls, including all his incredible shots. The left-handed batsman impressed the audience with six fours and five maximum sixes.

The young gun was bowled slowly by Devine Pretorius in the 14th over. But Babar kept going and scored his first PSL century. The skipper had faced severe criticism for his strike rate in the previous match. However, he proved himself once again to score a century – that too with a better scoring rate.

He was bowled after scoring 115 runs with the help of 15 fours and three sixes.

In the end, Rowman Powell scored 35 off 18 balls. Pretorius was the only wicket-taker in the first innings.
