KARACHI: With the eighth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) just around the corner, preparations for the series are in full swing to ensure that the upcoming season is as spectacular as the previous one.
For the first time in the history of PSL, the opening ceremony is being held in Multan. The mega opener at the Multan Cricket Stadium is scheduled to take place on February 13.
According to sources, Sahir Ali Baga and Aima Baig will perform at the opening ceremony along with Asim Azhar, Shai Gul and Faris Shafi, the singers of the official anthem of PSL 8.
The PSL’s official Twitter account announced earlier today that three singers from Coke Studio have been roped in to “take the PSL anthem to the next level”.
For the first time in the history of PSL, Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) will be used in the opening ceremony, sources added, adding that drones will be used to entertain cricket fans. A light show has also been planned. World.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) under the leadership of Najam Sethi is determined to make this year’s PSL bigger and better. In his press conferences after taking charge once again as the PCB chief, Sethi reiterated the need to transform the PSL as a brand.
“PSL 8 will be a huge event for PCB, with the best T20 cricketers in the world at four iconic venues. Our aim is to make PSL bigger, better and stronger than ever before and With big ambitions to make it the event of first choice for leading T20 cricketers,” he had said.
Najam Sethi and his team increased PSL’s branding budget from $100,000 to $1 million.
Exhibition match
Last week, an exhibition match was held in Quetta to promote the upcoming matches starting on February 13. Despite the bitter cold, more than 15,000 fans witnessed the historic game, and 4,000 security personnel had to be deployed for protection.
