President Alvi, who was elected as the head of state of Pakistan in 2018 after winning majority votes from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), completed five years in office on September 08 (Friday).

PTI’s core committee asserted that further delay in the matter could lead to violation of the Constitution and fundamental democratic rights of the people.

In a unanimous resolution, the committee said that the constitution empowers the president to fix the date of general elections within 90 days if the National Assembly is prematurely dissolved.
