ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is reportedly ready to hold talks with the current federal government regarding the upcoming election framework despite the party’s decision to dissolve the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assemblies.

A senior PTI leader told JEE News that PTI is ready to talk to the federal government regarding the next election. However, he claimed that the main problem was the “reviving economic situation” in the country.

“Our economic team has informed the leadership that if elections are held in the month of November, the country will default. Then we, in power, will not be in a position to control the situation,” he said.

The PTI leader said that the party leaders may be ready to accept elections in August or September if the government makes economic plans.

“In principle, we agree that the elections to all national and provincial assemblies should be held on the same date,” the PTI leader said.

Additionally, President Arif Alvi also discussed the current political situation in a meeting with the new Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir on Wednesday.

On the other hand, a senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) leader said that he suggested that the ruling party leadership should not resist the dissolution of the provincial assembly and should opt for elections in the Punjab Assembly.

He believed that Pervez Elahi’s continuation as chief minister was more challenging than the early elections in the province, adding that Elahi was distributing large-scale development funds and jobs to members of the provincial assembly ahead of the November elections. may affect the results.

So we should go for early elections in Punjab and go with the federal government.

He confirmed that a section within the government wants to hold talks with the PTI regarding general elections in May or June.

However, a lawyer claimed that such a task would be possible if the Muslim League (N) had the required numbers.

Meanwhile, Attorney General for Pakistan Ishtar Usaf Ali while talking to JEE News has urged the leadership of political parties to come together for an economic agreement in the country.

Sources have revealed that the leadership of the Muslim League (N) asked Hamza Shehbaz, the leader of the opposition in the Punjab Assembly, to come to Islamabad on Thursday and inform about the number.

Political analysts said that if the government and the establishment guarantee that no coercive action will be taken against PTI leaders, especially Imran Khan, then the party may agree not to immediately dissolve the Punjab Assembly.
