ISLAMABAD: PTI Chairman Imran Khan has informed his party leaders about his possible arrest in the next two weeks. After Khan’s arrest, a strategy has been prepared for the protest. However, party sources said this time the protest would be “truly peaceful” and no one would go near any cantonments or military areas.
PTI sources said party leaders, many of whom are still absconding to avoid arrest, have been instructed to participate in the protest in such a way that none of them are arrested. A source said it would be a protest without arrests.
Party Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi or any other individual will not be given a leadership role in the matter of Khan’s arrest. The party will be run by a new core committee whose members will not be named to prevent their possible arrest.
Most of the old core committee members have already left. No one knows yet who will be the members of the new core committee. The secret is with Imran Khan, who has told his party leaders that in case of his arrest, the names of the new members of the core committee will be shared with all concerned.
Regarding the style and format of the protest, PTI sources said that it is also confidential and is not being disclosed to ensure that it is successful and noticeable, and that it is not being foiled by the government. Can’t be made. However, it is assured that it will be truly peaceful.
Imran Khan-led PTI believes that Khan’s arrest will further boost the popularity of the party and its chairman. The departure of PTI leaders after the May 9 attacks is believed to have done the party no harm. Instead, these sources insist, the party is more popular with the masses and those who wrote PTI’s fate have failed to achieve the goal.
Party sources say that Imran Khan is aware of his possible arrest in the next two weeks. These sources say that the party leadership is confident that the Dubai Plan (referring to Nawaz Zardari’s talks) as well as the script to topple the PTI will create a threat.
Although the party’s weak leadership has left, the crackdown on the party is said to have created more sympathy among the public for the PTI and its chairman. Party sources reiterated that any formula minus Imran Khan would not be acceptable to Khan or his leaders, most of whom are in hiding.
PTI leaders believe that July will be difficult for them but later things will start improving for the party. The party vowed to contest the next elections whether in October or November.
Imran Khan, while giving an interview to a foreign newspaper, had also indicated that he would be arrested in 15-20 days.
