Faisalabad: The District Monitoring Officer (DMO) of Faisalabad on Sunday ordered the expulsion of Muslim League-N leader and Home Minister Rana Sanaullah from the party for violating polling code of conduct.
According to a statement, the DMO took strict notice of the Home Minister’s media briefing during the voting and ordered the removal of Sanaullah from the constituency jurisdiction.
The DMO said holding a press conference by a public official in a constituency jurisdiction on polling day is a violation of the election code of conduct.
Earlier today, Sanaullah said that meeting someone or participating in an event, whether it is held in connection with happiness or sadness, cannot be called election campaign.
While talking to the journalists, the interior minister said that he did not violate the law in any area, the federal institutions should follow the instructions issued by the election body.
In response to a question, Sanaullah said that I have been told that the voter turnout in the by-elections is 20-25 percent. The decision of the people in the by-election should be accepted.
Responding to another question about PTI’s proposed long march on Islamabad, the home minister said he would stop the “mob culture” at all costs.
“The district bar president is roaming around the constituency with armed men,” he said and appealed to the ECP and law enforcement agencies to take notice.
