Veteran actor Qavi Khan’s funeral prayers were offered at a mosque in Mississauga and he was later laid to rest at Meadowvale Cemetery in Brampton, JEE News reported on Monday.
Khan died on Sunday at the age of 80 in Canada. He was staying with his son for the past few months for his treatment.
Mufti Abdul Qayyum led the funeral prayer which was attended by the late actor’s family, close relatives and members of the Pakistani community. Senior actors Shahid Hameed and Mahmood Akhtar were also present.
Talking to JEE News after the funeral prayer, Shahid Hameed paid tribute to Qavi Khan by recognizing him as a great artist. The veteran actor recalled that Qavi Khan’s first and last film was with him, and he was a charismatic actor.
Qavi Khan was honored with the Presidential Award for Pride of Performance. He acted in about 200 films. He also appeared in several hit TV serials, radio programs and stage plays.
Recipient of the Presidential Award for Pride of Performance, Qavi Khan graced the silver screen with his talent in nearly 200 films. His presence in TV serials, radio programs and stage plays further cemented his popularity and recognition in the entertainment industry.
Qavi Khan’s legacy will live on and his contribution to the industry will always be remembered.
Speaking about him after breaking the sad news of his demise, Arts Council Karachi President Mohammad Ahmad Shah said, “Qavi was unwell recently.”
He prayed that Allah Almighty grant the soul of the deceased a place in the tide of mercy and give courage and strength to the bereaved family members to bear this irreparable loss with patience and perseverance.
Appreciating the talent and talent of the late actor, Shah referred to him as a “great actor who left an indelible mark on the showbiz industry”.
Talking about his achievements, the President of the Arts Council said that Khan was honored with Sitara-e-Imtiaz, PTV Lifetime Achievement Award and Lifetime Achievement Award by Radio Pakistan.
