KARACHI: Former Pakistan captain and wicketkeeper-batsman Moin Khan has made a big claim regarding Mohammad Rizwan, saying that he is only in favor of playing on the league side and will soon be caught in the trap of the opposing teams.
Moeen, the show bouncer, highlighted the weakness in wicketkeeper-batsman Rizwan’s batting approach and alleged that the latter is a one-dimensional batsman and prefers to score on the onside.
If you look at the openers of world class teams, their strike rate is above 130. So I think Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan need to improve their game and approach as they now desperately need to increase their strike rate. ” said Moin.
“I think Babar is going through a bad run of form at the moment, there’s no doubt about his ability, he’s a brilliant player. Rizwan, on the other hand, plays only one side and needs to score from the other side as well or else he will be stuck,” maintained Moeen.
The former Pakistan captain then also opined on the possibility of testing a new opening pair for T20Is, claiming that left-handed batsmen like Sharjeel Khan and Fakhar Zaman would be more productive.
Moeen said that I had said earlier in the Asia Cup that the left and right combination should be made in the opening as Babar was playing in the one-down position, so he should have demoted himself and promoted Fakhar to the opening position.
“A combination like this is very lethal because it makes it difficult for the bowlers to stick to their line and length. So, you have to take a chance, it’s inevitable and if you don’t want to take such chances and traditional cricket “If you want to play, you will always be on the traditional and average side,” he added.
Moeen then further commented on the middle order of the Pakistan cricket team and described Khushdil Shah, Asif Ali, and Iftikhar Ahmed as lucky to be getting support despite being relegated from the tournament.
“There is no doubt that changes could have been made in the current middle order but as a former cricketer I always support the team. So, I think we need to support them now,” Moin said.
“There is no doubt that our middle-order had a bad Asia Cup and they could have done better in the tournament but I think Khushdil, Asif and other middle-order batsmen are lucky because they have been picked up by management after a bad tournament. There was support. ” he added.
The former Pakistan captain then highlighted the flaws in current skipper Babar’s outstanding skills and said “the time has come to improve his captaincy skills.”
“As we saw in the Asia Cup final when Pakistan lost the match after a great start, we should have been attacking but we didn’t and lost momentum. I wonder what this support staff did there. “If he could not deliver a message to Babur and ask him to kill him,” Moin said.
“So, I think he is constantly making mistakes in captaincy and we always think that he will learn things soon but that is not the case. It is Babar’s time. The World Cup is approaching and now we have no room for mistakes and if you keep making mistakes, I don’t think we will win it.
