Role of a Lifetime! Saba Qamar is Playing Role of a Politician in Upcoming Project

Looks like Saba Qamar’s long wish has finally come true! The actor, who earlier hoped to play a politician on screen, is finally getting the role of a lifetime!

Qamar’s upcoming project, Mandi, sees Satara as a woman named Uzma. The web series also stars Mikal Zulfiqar, who also shared screen space with Ahsan Khan in his latest offering, Ex in Fraud. Without divulging details about Mandi, Qamar took to Instagram to confirm the news of him playing a politician in his upcoming venture. Qamar and Zulfikar are busy shooting for the said web series.

Many speculate that Qamar’s Uzma is heavily influenced by PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz Sharif, however none of the actors or makers have confirmed this.

In May this year, while talking to JEE News, Qamar expressed his desire to play either the Muslim League (N) leader or former prime minister and PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto on-screen. “I would love to play a politician on screen!” Qamar shared with the publication when he discussed his dream role.

“I think we can make a wonderful biopic on Ms. Benazir Bhutto. I am also willing to play the role of Maryam Nawaz Sharif on the big screen. I think I can do justice to her.”

He added, “I am excited to essay a politician because there are so many layers to their lives. They are a different person when they engage with the public, than when they are with their families. So different, and someone else when they’re with their colleagues. It’s fascinating. Politicians are no less than actors. So I think it’s relevant.”

Apart from Qamar and Zulfikar, actress Aini Jaffrey is also all set to make her comeback on the small screen with the same project. The 33-year-old actor was last seen on TV in 2018’s Tajdeed Wafa and 2017’s fan-favorite romcom Balu Mahi.

“It’s been a minute,” Jaffrey wrote on Instagram, confirming news of working with Qamar, Zulfiqar and Shayan Khan. She added, “[I’m] extremely humbled and excited to be a part of this project and join such a talented cast. After a gap of four years, to spend time with my new son and family; I Both nervous and excited to re-enter the field of acting.”

She went on to explain how the break made her realize her passion for acting, saying it was not a “passing fancy” and something she could never give up. “The break has taught me to be more patient and the most valuable lesson is that being a woman and a mother means that when you can’t take it all at once, you can take it in turns, when It’s the right time,” added the Asirzadi actor.

Co-star Qamar also commented on the post. “You’re welcome, love,” he wrote. The Baaghi star also posted a video today while on her way to her shoot, with the caption, “Mandi – Day 10” further confirming news.
