The celebrities were slammed online for attending an award show abroad at a time when Pakistan is reeling from massive and devastating floods. A few days ago, some celebrities made it clear that they were donating some of the proceeds from the HUM Awards event, but those who attended were still invited, Mahira Khan being one of the many. Now, the superstar actor has responded to the “rude commentary”.
On Friday, the actor took to Twitter to respond to someone who mocked him and said that if he donates four of his clothes to the flood victims, everything will be fine. In response, Khan said, “It is never right for us – the artistes of your country! I have been doing my part and will continue to do it.”
Its never ok for us – the artists of your country!

I have and will continue to do my part. If it makes you happy, I can take some pictures while at it. Oh but then it’ll be – showing off doing charity. The unkind commentary never ends. You do you. I will do me. ✌🏼 https://t.co/h6gNNeJIAj
She replied that she could take photos if it made her happy, but then it would be “showing charity”. Khan added, “Indecent comments never end. You do. I will.”
Actress and writer Meera Sethi also expressed her support to Khan and said that she agrees with him. She spoke about her relief efforts in Balochistan and said she shared photos of herself shaking for fear of “showing good deeds”. She added that she is well aware of Khan and his brand mission which is raising funds for flood victims but has not publicized it.
I’m with Mahira on this. I was in Balochistan doing relief work and tremblingly shared photos for fear of “showing off doing good deeds.” I know Mahira and Mashion have been raising funds for flood affectees—she just hasn’t advertised it. https://t.co/GTQonaxgxI
