ISLAMABAD: The final decision regarding the resignations of 123 members of the National Assembly of PTI will be taken in early December as the ruling coalition has not decided whether to accept or reject their request to leave the House.
Top sources in the National Assembly Secretariat told The News on Saturday that some sections of the PTI had recently given the impression that the ruling coalition had decided not to accept the resignations – which on April 10 PTI Chairman Imran were presented just before Khan’s dismissal. Prime Minister.
“No such decision has been taken as National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has already accepted the resignations of eleven MLAs,” sources said. Sources said that the same formula applied to 11 PTI members will be applied to all other resignations as well.
It is a matter of time, sources said, as around three dozen National Assembly members belonging to the PTI have approached the Speaker’s office to express their intention to return to the House.
He urged the Speaker to categorically reject all resignations instead of taking piecemeal decisions.
Sources reminded that the Speaker of the National Assembly has to take a decision within 14 weeks from now otherwise no by-elections will be possible in the remaining term of the Assembly as per the restrictions of the Constitution.
Sources pointed out that the MNAs who approached the NA Secretariat were not hoping for a PTI ticket in the next general elections or intending to contest on the party’s ticket.
Khan’s Arrest.
Meanwhile, political sources said that if the PTI MNAs choose to return home, they will have to elect their new parliamentary leader after the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) verdict in the Tosha Khana case. Khan was stripped of NA membership.
The PTI is unlikely to return to the National Assembly even though Supreme Court judges and the Army Chief have advised it to return to the legislature.
The PTI leadership believes that any such withdrawal would not be politically expedient. The ruling Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) has no intention of saving face from Khan canceling his long march.
Negotiations will be possible only after Tehreek-e-Insaaf comes out of agitation mode completely. Sources say that if talks are held after ending the long march, the proposal of early elections will not be on the table.
He added that the PTI leadership will face strict accountability from next month and Khan will face investigations by agencies for alleged corruption.
Sources said that in the process he could be put behind bars.
