A seven-year-old girl was killed after being raped in Landhi area of Karachi on Friday. Later, his body was recovered from a garbage dump in Muslimabad area of Landhi.
A team of Quaidabad police took the body into custody and shifted it to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) for post-mortem.
Girl Has Been Missing For Two Days
Malir SSP Irfan Bahadur told JEE News that the victim was reported missing from her house two days ago [Wednesday].
The victim’s parents told the police that their daughter had left home to attend a scheduled class at a local madrassa but did not return.
Bahadur said that the Quaidabad police took immediate action on receiving the information and started searching for the victim. But they failed to trace the girl.
SSP Bahadur said that the victim’s family also tried to trace the girl on their own.
“The family prepared pamphlets with the picture of the victim and distributed them in the area,” he added.
But on Friday in Muslimabad area of Landhi, a boy standing on the roof of his house saw the body of a child lying in a garbage heap.
When she told her parents what she had seen and they investigated the matter, the police were called.
The police took the body of the deceased into custody and supervised its transfer to Jinnah Post Graduate College (JPMC) while starting an investigation into the matter.
“Police have obtained footage from CCTV cameras installed around the area,” SSP Bahadur said, adding that they were using technology to trace the suspects.
What Happened to Girl?
At the JPMC, where the girl was medically examined before a full post-mortem, police surgeon Dr Samia Syed said that preliminary examination strongly indicated that the victim was raped and molested.
Dr. Samia told JEE News that a female medico-legal officer (WMLO), who examined the body as per the law, suggested that the minor had injuries all over his body, especially on the head. are
On the cause of death, the police surgeon said that preliminary findings suggest that she was killed by strangulation or suffocation.
WMLO is taking samples from the victim for DNA profiling and cross-matching.
Additionally, visual samples have been preserved for toxicology screening, confirmed Dr Samaiah.
Victim’s Family Rejected Police Statement.
Meanwhile, the victim’s family and other local residents protested in the area against the rape and murder of the minor.
They blocked the national highway at Dawood Chowrangi and stopped the traffic of vehicles going to Port Qasim and Jinnah International Airport.
The victim’s family said that contrary to police claims, when they first tried to register their daughter’s missing case around 2:30 pm on Wednesday, November 16, the police failed to register their complaint. stayed
The victim’s father complained that there was no officer to register the complaint, start searching for the child.
He accused the police of delay and said that a case was registered only after the child’s body was recovered.
The protestors demanded action against the Quaidabad police for their alleged negligence in taking timely action, which could have saved the victim besides tracking down the culprit.
