Shahbaz Sharif and other PML-N leaders will leave for London to discuss Nawaz’s return

LAHORE: Former Information and Broadcasting Minister Maryam Aurangzeb said on Sunday that former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will leave for London today (Sunday) from Lahore to meet Pakistan Muslim League (N) leader Nawaz Sharif.

Former Prime Minister Aurangzeb wrote on Twitter: “Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League (N) President Shehbaz Sharif will leave Lahore today for London. During his stay in London, Shehbaz Sharif will also meet party leader. Muhammad Nawaz Sharif”

According to JEE News, the delegation is likely to include other senior leaders of the party.

The visit comes amid speculation that Nawaz Sharif may return to Pakistan soon.

PML-N Lahore President Saiful Muluk Khokhar confirmed that he and Faisal Saif Khokhar were scheduled to board a flight to London on Sunday. He said that the delegation will meet Nawaz Sharif and discuss the future plan of the party.

The visit is likely to be closely watched by political observers, as it may provide clues about Nawaz Sharif’s intentions.

If he returns to Pakistan, it will be a big boost for PML-N before the general elections.

Party sources say that Nawaz Sharif has summoned the local leaders to London where all discussions regarding the return to Pakistan will be held. Party sources claimed that Nawaz had planned to return to Pakistan in mid-September 2023.

He said that the legal wizards of the party will also reach London and inform the PML-N chief about the legal issues for his return. Speaking to this scribe, Khokhar said that he will meet Nawaz Sharif in London and finalize the arrangements for his reception.

Regarding the exact date of return, he said that it will be decided by the party chief himself.

Meanwhile, Shahbaz Sharif went to the residence of Atta Tarar, Deputy Secretary General of the party and met his parents and family members.

He paid tribute to former President Rafiq Tarar’s services to Pakistan and the nation and appreciated Tarar’s services to the party and the country during his 16-month tenure as Prime Minister.
