Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan cannot deal with the flood situation alone and the international community needs to pay attention to this disaster.
Addressing a meeting in New York to review the flood situation in Pakistan, the Prime Minister also said that international organizations should also support Pakistan.
Earlier in a video message, the Prime Minister said that Pakistan is going through difficult times and the flood devastation, which is visible to the world, needs serious attention.
Recent floods in Pakistan inundated one-third of the land, causing extensive damage to human lives, infrastructure, livestock and crops.
The prime minister, who is in New York to attend the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly, said he is in touch with the relevant authorities in Pakistan to deal with post-flood relief and rehabilitation activities.
During the discussion with the world leaders, Sharif said that he highlighted the plight of flood affected people including children.
The Prime Minister urged the local baby food companies to meet the required quantity of items to be supplied to the children in the flood affected areas.
He also called for increasing donations of baby food to meet the shortage of supplies.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif praised the armed forces and the National Disaster Management Authority as well as the federal and provincial governments for carrying out rescue, relief and rehabilitation activities in the flood-affected areas.
Shahbaz Sharif will address the UNGA meeting on Friday.
