Pakistani fast bowler Shaheen Afridi got married with former captain Shahid Afridi’s daughter Ansha in a local mosque in Karachi.
Maulana Abdul Sattar performed Nikah at Zakaria Masjid while the bride’s rukhsari will take place later.
Immediately after the marriage, a reception was also held in which cricketers Babar Azam, Sarfraz Ahmed, Naseem Shah and Shadab Khan besides squash legend Jahangir Khan also participated.
Former Director General of Inter Services Public Relations Asim Bajwa was also present along with General Manager of International Cricket Council Wasim Khan.
According to family sources, the couple’s Mehndi ceremony was held last night. Meanwhile, Shaheen’s family reached Karachi two days ago to attend the wedding ceremonies.
Both got engaged two years ago.
Speaking in an interview, the left-armer revealed that he wanted to marry Afridi’s daughter.
“It was my wish and Alhamdulillah [thanks to Allah] it has come true now,” Shaheen said shyly during the interview.
Asked if Ansha feels jealous of her female fans, the 22-year-old cricketer said: “I’m not sure, maybe she feels something like that.”
The host asked the young fast bowler about upsetting his many female fans after getting engaged so soon, to which he replied: “I found my heart and that’s enough for me.”
With his team Lahore Qalandars as the defending champions, skipper Shaheen will next be seen in action during the eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League, which is scheduled to begin on February 13.
The fast bowler has been on and off the cricket field for some time after suffering a knee injury during the T20 World Cup 2022 final against England on November 13.
