Pakistan’s young star fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi on Friday set a record by becoming the first bowler to take four wickets in the first over of an innings in a T20 match.
The 23-year-old fast bowler achieved the feat while playing for Nottinghamshire against Birmingham Bears during the ongoing Vitality Blast.
The left-handed bowler took wickets on the first, second, fifth and sixth balls of the maiden over.

Shaheen dismissed both Bears captain Alex Davis and then Chris Benjamin on the first two balls of the over. Despite missing out on a hat-trick, he got rid of Dan Mosley and Ed Barnard in the last two balls of the over.
He finished with impressive figures of 4-29 from four overs but could not help his team win the match.
Bears chased down the target of 169 runs in 19.1 overs. Opener Robert Yates played a brilliant innings of 65 runs off 46 balls to give his team victory by two wickets.
Glenn Maxwell, Jacob Bethel and Jack Lintott scored 19, 27 and 27 not out respectively, and provided the finishing touch.
Currently, the Bears top the points table in the North Group, with 10 wins from 13 matches. Nottinghamshire, on the other hand, are fourth as they have won seven out of 13 matches.
This is the 21st edition of the tournament which was the first proper T20 league when it started as the Twenty20 Cup in June 2003.
Shaheen signed with Nottinghamshire Outlaws for this year’s Blast. In the 2020 edition of the tournament, he briefly represented the Hampshire Hawks. In the match against Middlesex, he took four wickets in four balls.
