Newly appointed interim chief selector Shahid Afridi has revealed that players with a strike rate of less than 130 or 135 in the domestic circuit will not be selected to represent Pakistan in the T20 format.

Speaking to a private channel, the former Pakistan captain termed his job as chief selector as ‘difficult’ and said it was difficult to please everyone while in that position.

The outstanding all-rounder of his era also said that he is having one-on-one meetings with the players and the management.

He said that there is a good understanding between the team and the selection committee.

Talking about the pitches prepared for the Test series against New Zealand, Afridi said that he was not satisfied with them. He said that he asked the groundsman for the bouncy track and he agreed to do it.

The interim chief selector further said that the pitches are not helpful as the bowlers have to work hard to control the runs. He questioned that if we don’t practice at home ground, how will we play the pitches of South Africa and England.

Afridi said he had to look for the future and new players, so there were many things under discussion.

Bold, beautiful player
A day earlier, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Najam Sethi had hailed Afridi’s appointment, describing him as a “bold and handsome” player with the courage to make smart decisions on and off the field. Have the courage.

Sethi, who was given the reins after a sudden change of guard at the Cricket Board last month, said Afridi was very popular and wanted someone on the selection committee who would take “bold” decisions. can take

After Mohammad Wasim was sacked by the new PCB management, Afridi was given the responsibility of men’s team selection. A number of changes have since been made to the team for the Test series against New Zealand.

Defending his decision to bring in the smoky batsman, Sethi said he is one to experiment with new talent and realize “where the old still sleeps”.

“I think that was the lack of that in the team which led us to four consecutive defeats in Test matches,” he said, referring to back-to-back losses against England and Australia in the red ball format.

Sethi said that Afridi was on board, he wanted to make some changes and he wanted to play bold and exciting cricket.
