During the hearing of the application, a bench of the Sindh High Court headed by Justice Karim Khan Agha directed the Prosecutor General Sindh (PGS) to submit a reply to the court by December 15.

The court also issued notices to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ghulam Nabi Memon and PGS.

The court also directed the IGP to submit a detailed report of the cases registered against Azam Swati in the province.

Justice Agha issued these instructions today during the hearing of the Parveen Rehman murder case.

IGP Ghulam Nabi was present in the court when the judge asked about several First Information Reports (FIRs) filed against the PTI senator in the same offence.

Azam Swati has been in the custody of Sindh Police for three days. He is facing two cases for posting controversial tweets against senior military leaders.

He was arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) from Islamabad on November 27 for “a most despicable campaign of threatening tweets against state institutions” and has been in custody since then – first in Quetta and now In the Sindh region.

Swati was detained by the Sindh Police last week in two cases registered in Wara and Qamber police stations after the Balochistan High Court ordered to drop all cases against her.

During the hearing today, the judge of the Sindh High Court asked the IG Sindh to give the details of the cases against Azam Swati.

“We have heard that cases have also been registered against a former prime minister. How can multiple FIRs be registered in one crime?” he asked.

Justice KK Agha said that there are decisions of the Supreme Court in this regard.
