Sindh Transport and Information Minister Sharjeel Memon on Wednesday announced the government’s decision to remove compressed natural gas (CNG) kits from school vans across the province.

While addressing a press conference in Karachi, Memon said that the ban on installing CNG kits in school vans was also imposed earlier, but now a force is being formed by the transport department which will monitor the vehicles.

A day ago, the Sindh Transport Department had decided to launch an operation to immediately remove CNG kits from school vans and coasters plying across the province.

In a meeting of the Transport Department, it was decided to start a crackdown on all illegal bus stands across Sindh and take strict action against those involved in this scourge. Registration of criminal cases against such persons will be part of the crackdown.

During the meeting, Memon directed Transport Secretary Saleem Rajput to write letters to the concerned Divisional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners to take immediate action against those running illegal bus stands. He stressed the importance of immediate action to tackle the problem.

In the meeting, it was also decided to start the process of registration of FIR against the operators of illegal bus stands.

The authorities decided to prioritize the immediate removal of any illegal encroachments from bus stands belonging to the Transport Department across Sindh and to seek cooperation from the authorities concerned to resolve the issue effectively.
