Rawalpindi: A statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) of the Pakistan Army said that security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in North Waziristan’s Datta Khel area on Wednesday. Six militants were killed.

According to the army’s media wing, six terrorists were killed in a fierce exchange of fire on March 8.

The forces also recovered arms and ammunition from the slain terrorists, the statement said, adding that the slain terrorists were active in terrorist activities against security forces and civilians.

“The local people of the area appreciated the response of the security forces and extended their full support to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the area,” the statement added.

Last week, a terrorist was killed during an operation by security forces in North Waziristan. After a fierce exchange of fire, the terrorist was killed.

According to ISPR, arms and ammunition have also been recovered from the possession of the slain terrorist who was involved in terrorist activities against security forces and killing of innocent civilians.

As Pakistan has been reeling under terror attacks for the past few months, the country’s civil and military leadership has vowed to unite against terrorists.

The National Apex Committee comprising the country’s top military and political leadership sought a national consensus to root out militancy.

Recent attacks by terrorists in rural and urban centers of the country, which have claimed the lives of innocent Pakistanis and law enforcement agencies, have prompted security forces and the LEA to step up operations against them.
