Son of a Member of Peace Committee was Shot Dead in Swat.

A local peace committee member’s son was killed while a child was injured as a result of firing on a school van by unknown assailants in Mingora area of ​​Swat on Monday morning.

In a separate incident in Lower Dir, three school-going children sustained bullet injuries in an alleged gunfight.

According to the Swat Police, the murder of the son of the peace committee member took place in Waliabad area.

Unknown suspects ambushed and opened fire on the school van as a result of which the driver Hussain Ahmed was killed while the student sitting next to him on the front seat was injured.

The injured child was taken to hospital where his condition is said to be stable.

A preliminary investigation into the incident has revealed that the deceased used to run a van service for school children.

There were 10-11 students in the vehicle at the time they were shot, but the suspect did not target them.

Only one of the students sitting in the front seat with the driver was injured.

Private School Management Association along with parents and local people also protested against the firing incident at Nishat Chowk.

The president of the association, Swab Khan, announced the closure of the school on Tuesday as a protest against the killing of the van driver.

Charbagh Police Station House Officer (SHO) Ali Bacha told that they are investigating the incident and are collecting CCTV footage as well as recording the statements of eyewitnesses.

He said that apparently the target of the suspect was van driver Hussain Ahmed, whose father is part of the local peace committee.

“No Personal Enmity”
The victim’s brother told the police that he has no personal enmity with anyone.

He demanded the law enforcement agencies to immediately trace and arrest the accused who killed his brother.

Four Students were Injured in the Alleged Armed Clash
In another incident in Lower Dir’s Tamergira, four school-going children were injured by gunshots as a result of an alleged armed clash between two parties.

Rescue teams reached the spot and shifted the injured to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital. Their condition is out of danger.

The police said that the children were injured in an armed clash between two parties, but refrained from giving further details about the parties involved.
